Before and After

Lady Bug is a 6 year old draft cross mare. She was donated to SCARE by a
veterinary office that had been caring for her for several years. As a two-
year old she had an accident that resulted in the loss of an eye and after
that she lived at the vet clinic as a pasture pal. Unable to find her a home
(she is big and strong and never really learned any manners), the clinic asked
SCARE to take her as they could no longer keep her. She is currently in foster
care with Laura Moore in Awendaw, SC and doing wonderfully. She has been in
intensive training (first with Cristy Sanders and now with Laura) and is
turning out to be a lovely horse. Laura is smitten with her and so Lady has
probably found a permanent home! Here's a nice letter "from" Lady Bug:

"Hi! Remember me? My name is Lady Bug. You probably read about me in the
newsletter a few months ago. I am the big one-eyed mare. SCARE was looking for
a foster home for me and I am happy to report they have found one. Cristy
Sanders’ took really good care of me at my temporary home! My new foster mom,
Laura, brought me to a new place in Huger. I have my own big pasture and Laura
comes to see me everyday. I am learning how to work in a round pen and under
saddle. Laura thinks I will make a good dressage horse. She says I have a BIG
trot! I am also learning how to stand and let Laura groom me and work in hand
without pushing my way around. She can be tough on me but the rewards are
wonderful. I love all of the attention she gives me. We both want to thank the
SCARE people for caring enough about me and the other horses in SC to invest
the time and resources to make sure we all have good homes. Well maybe I will
see you all some day on the trails or at a show. Keep up the good work for all
of the horses that depend on you for their safety and well-being".
