Lots of people stopped and looked at us, and we just knew they were going to bring us food, but they would just shake their heads and walk away. Finally, these people pulled up with big horse trailers. We didn’t know what to think, but then, they started putting halters on us. They all seemed really sad, but they stroked our necks and faces and talked softly to us, so we knew they had to be kind. And then, when they loaded us in their trailers, they had these big bags of sweet fresh hay hanging for each of us. It was too good to be true!!!
Hi there! My name used to be Dancer, but because my master did not take care of me, I will never “dance” again. My new masters said I deserved a new name to go with my new life, so now my name is Goldie.
I am a ten-year-old Palomino mare. I guess it’s sort of hard for you to tell what color I am right now because of all of this rainrot and stuff, but I used to have a beautiful golden coat, and long, blonde mane and tail. I guess I used to be a real looker, because everywhere my owner took me people would give her blue ribbons, and they clapped their hands a lot for me. That doesn’t happen anymore. I guess my owner got really mad when I hurt my foot. I couldn’t walk very well because it hurt so bad, but I really tried. I guess it made her mad at everybody, because she stopped bringing us anything to eat, and she never came to brush or care for us. We all got to be kind of a mess.
